RESEO is the European Network for Opera and Dance Education.
Its strength lies in the number and diversity of its membership, which currently comprises over sixty opera houses, dance companies as well as cross-arts cultural structures of all sizes from 21 countries in Europe and beyond.
RESEO seeks to develop and promote the practice of opera and dance education and outreach in Europe.
The network is driven by five key aims:
- As the principal platform for opera and dance educators in Europe, it aims at facilitating exchange and knowledge-transfer.
- To be a valuable research and resource centre for the opera and dance sector in Europe.
- To initiate artistic collaboration, experimentation, risk-taking and innovative new work across Europe.
- To raise the public profile of opera and dance education within the cultural sector, to policy makers and to the wider public.
- To continually develop its organisational structure to meet the varying needs of its membership.
RESEO encourages mutually enriching exchange between education professionals, through bi-annual conferences, meetings, exclusive invitations to projects and performances and an active programme of project-based work. Its internet site provides a showcase for members works and facilitates Europe-wide communication. A regular newsletter keeps members informed of cutting-edge issues and programmes in the field of opera, dance and arts education.
In 2010, RESEO’s spring conference in Porto will focus on Opera, Dance and Disability (31 March- 3 April 2010, Casa da Musica). The autumn conference in Berlin shall centre on Orchestra Education (21 – 23 October 2010, Komische Oper).
RESEO receives structural funding via the European Commission’s Culture Programme.
